Q: How do I know if I need a new roof?
A: Throughout the hot and cold seasons, your shingles have a tendency to expand and contract. This process can cause small gaps to form and the adhesive of the silicon to deteriorate. These symptoms are basic general wear and tear issues that develop gradually through a long period of time. Generally, it’s best to have one of our adjusters assess your roof every 6 to 8 years from the date of your previous roof installation.
Q: When should I file a claim?
A: Under obvious extreme conditions, you should definitely contact your insurance company to report a claim. However, for minor leaks or damages that can cost less than your deductible, we urge you to consider using your insurance company to assist you for larger repair issues such as a roof replacement. Our adjusters can conduct a free inspection under 30 minutes to provide you with the best course of action as well as provide you with insurance assistance.
Q: Does a claim raise my premium and can my insurance company drop me?
A: For wind and hail claims, your insurance company can not drop you or raise your premium due to you placing a new claim. In cases of massive catastrophe, the cost of an insurance company’s national average may raise a small amount in order to make up for the lost to stay in business.
Q: How long does it take to process a claim?
A: Depending on your insurance adjusters’ work load, weather conditions, and other factors, it can take approximately 5 to 10 business days for Brotherhood Roofing to effectively process your claim for you.
Q: What is the length of time for a full roof replacement?
A: Under city ordinance, we can begin the tear off process no earlier than 7am and begin heavy machinery no earlier than 8am. Typically, a re-roof of just one layer of shingles on a one story house will only take just one day! Facing unexpected additional construction, large roof replacement projects, or a number of other scenarios, will take no more than just two full days for a full roof replacement including a thorough clean up.
Q: Are there services in my area?
A: We proudly offer services in Collin County, Denton County, Dallas County, and Tarrant County. For services out of these areas please request your free inspection now. One of our adjusters will contact you as soon as we receive your request.
Q: Do I need to be present for the free inspection?
A: In order for our adjusters to provide you with the most accurate assessment, it may be in your best interest to be present during our inspection. There may be vital questions that can be of concern to you regarding your roof and/or your property that we might need to explain and demonstrate situations to you in person. We are committed to providing convenience to our customers, and we are excellent in working with your schedule.
Q: Is it safe to place a second or third layer of shingles on top of each other?
A: Under any circumstances, it is absolutely not a wise decision to “over lay” or install multiple layers. Installing two or three layers can put up to 720lbs per 100sq ft! This can cause a tremendous amount of permanent cosmetic damages such as bowing effects in your decking sheets. Multiple layers can also put excessive weight on your rafters that can cause them to split and even possible snap.
Q: What are the benefits of proper ventilation?
A: Increasing the amount of proper ventilation in your attic can significantly reduce your utility bill, and prolong the life span of your shingles.
Q: What are hail impact resistant shingles and how can I benefit from them?
A: Hail impact resistant shingles are designed to resist the effects of severe weather such as wind and hail, as well as miscellaneous debris such as tree limbs. These shingles meet a very difficult requirement known as “Class 4” which is set by the Underwriters Laboratories (UL) and the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM International). Some major insurance companies may offer you a homeowner’s premium discount for using shingles that receive this “Class 4” rating. Ask your Brotherhood Roofing adjuster for more details about “Class 4” shingles today.
